I read somewhere on the internet that yoga for fertility is recommended when trying to have a baby. Is this true Which exercises help in these efforts and how? If the exercises are performed not too correctly, can you harm yourself?

A relaxed body and mind, as well as an appropriate mental attitude that develops during yoga and meditation, can also help balance the internal organs.

A holistic approach to fertility is also ensuring a proper diet.

What asanas help you get pregnant?

Start by increasing body awareness.

With reduced fertility, it is important not to overload or extreme fatigue.

Ashtanga yoga may not be recommended in this case.

On the other hand, yoga forms that allow you to direct energy “inward” may be ideal.

Yoga, which is to promote pregnancy, is primarily asanas, which nourish and improve the blood supply to the reproductive organs and calm the mind with breath.

Yoga regeneration according to the Iyengar method, asana for hip opening, base chakra (Muladhara) and the sacral chakra (Svadhisthana) will work well.

Before conception, it is worth strengthening and making the body more elastic.

Then all you need is a regular practice of asanas from all groups, with particular emphasis on inverted positions and regenerative variants. The body should not be exhausted during this time, so the practise should be rather mild / non-intensive.

Particularly recommended for supporting conception is:

  • Baddha Konasana
  • it is worth practising Ardha Candrasana with your backs leaning against the wall
  • standing asanas that facilitate the relaxation of the abdomen: Virabhadrasana II, Trikonasana, Parsvakonasana.

    Avoid standing torsion asanas and Virabhadrasana III. As a rule, it is good to do menstrual practice with the exclusion of the ban on reverse positions.

Can you hurt yourself by practising yoga?

If you perform a position very badly, then you can harm yourself – like any physical activity.

If you have a mirror at home, you can go ahead and use it, or you can record yourself as you exercise and then watch.

Although yoga is supposed to teach us how to feel our body and how to use proprioceptors correctly (they are responsible for information on how the body is arranged without looking at it), but a mirror can help you learn the right attitude faster.

Which can be difficult without the help of an instructor who would improve you.
